Project Description

6th GTBA – CDP & Recobro – Harvest and Salad

Category: Germinating Ties
Date: November 2018

After three months of biweekly visits to the elder daycare home Casa de la Divina Providencia, the girls from the foster home Centro El Recobro said farewell to the elders on their last Germinating Ties encounter of 2018, promising to return the next year to continue to learn from them.
Once again they formed teams of elders and girls and got organized to perform the different activities of the care routine. Some watered the plants and clipped yellow or damaged leaves, while others sprayed the preventive care preparations over the plants based on neem tea and milk with baking soda. Some cleaned and refreshed the beer traps for the snails and some harvested lettuce, spinach, parsley, celery, tomatoes, carrots and beetroots to get ready for the second activity of the day.
With the harvest they all prepared together a delicious and nourishing salad for all the participants. As a farewell present, a few elder ladies brought them bracelets and little gifts as a symbol of love and empathy for these months of working together. With their traditional “cheer” and a great applause they bid their farewells for the year, hoping to see each other in 2019.
